Mary Lou Laubscher - We remember you

All of us from Monument Community Partnership and The Micheal Chavez Center want to pay tribute to one of our organization’s most amazing people....Mary Lou Laubscher. Though she passed away this past week after a long struggle with Cancer, she will remain with us in many ways both big and small. Apart from ALL the many awards she collected and accomplishments she achieved in her lifetime, we’d like to remember the person she was to all of us.

When you entered a room where Mary Lou was she made YOU feel like the most special person on the planet. Mary Lou greeted people with kindness, respect and she had a way of making you feel like you were THE one who made the difference Truth be told, Mary Lou, knew how to make anyone, no matter what their circumstance or station in life, shine.  If you were introduced to Mary Lou, you can bet you were going to be volunteered for the next greatest project she had going on and you would feel like you were the key person and that the project wouldn't be the same without you.
Mary Lou never took no for an answer especially from those in charge. She saw everything as an opportunity and turned any negative into a positive. She knew how to treat all people with dignity and respect. Everyone was an equal to her no matter how little or how much education or life experience. She loved the teenagers too! One employee here remembers meeting Mary Lou when she was in Middle School, she remarked that “Mary Lou treated me like a friend and I felt important to her even though I was only a 7th grader. She made such a positive impression on me” She always thought of others and she was constantly thinking of ways to improve life for those who did not have access to the basics of life.
We will miss her presence in our lives on a day to day basis. We will move forward in our organization with her life to guide us. Mary Lou was one of the most vivid examples of what we want to see lived out in our community, love, justice and equal treatment for all. Thank you Mary Lou for being all that God created you to be!
